Ok, Im not sure if everyone knows this (but Im sure most do), but I appreciate a good 80's movie.
I put together a list of some of the ones that I think are pretty high quality. (in no particular order.) Some early 90's might have snuck their way in there too, but its my list, and they are still good movies.

LightBright and EtchASketch

Anyone remember how awesome light bright was?
All the cool designs you could make, with all the cool colors, and it was easy to see in the dark :)
Between light bright, legos, and etch-a-sketch I think the 80's did a awesome job of keeping creativity alive and the kids entertained :)

I'll sock your puppet

I plop into my bed ready for a little shut-eye when suddenly, the bedroom door creaks open and sock puppet appears.
Sock puppet was very entertaining: he performed a little song and dance, then threatened Taylor's life; he barely escaped.  What a show!!
With movies, sophisticated games (like the amazing Rock Band), and all other sorts of gadgets, you might think there is no room in the world for sock puppet.
But I am here to tell you that there is room. What happened to making our own fun.  It's great to be entertained and all but when you go do something out of the ordinary, even if it is making a "silly" (sorry Chase) sock puppet, it's more fun than you might think.  Just a little food for thought.

Tribute to the story tellers out there.

This post is to honor those who start telling stories and then realize right before its too late to stop that the story they were going to tell isnt all that interesting.
The same goes for those of you who have a really funny quote or joke to tell, and realize right before the punch line that you cant remember it as well as you thought you could.
Really, life would be easier if everyone had just seen the same funny clip, or heard the same joke already.
And if you've never been in this situation, then chances are that a) you have in insane memory or b) you aren't known for telling many jokes or funny lines because you just dont. Its not your thing. Really, you are too afraid of not delivering the joke well that you chose not to tell it in the first place.
If you fall into either of those categories, then these kudos are not for you. This is a tribute to those who try and share their enjoyable moments of the day even if they dont always have a perfect delivery.
I for one want to tell you to keep it up. Dont let a few bad moments deter you from sharing the vast treasure trove of funny moments you have stored away.
To the storytellers out there, we salute you.

Whats the deal with Widescreen vs Fullscreen?

So, for any of you that have ever had a discussion about whether to watch a movie/buy a movie in fullscreen or widescreen, and have chosen fullscreen because you "don't like the black lines around the edges", please, let me clarify the following:
When you go to the theater to watch a movie, you are watching it in widescreen. Go ahead and look. Sure, there aren't any black lines on the top or bottom, but unlike the tv you have at your house, it isn't square.
So what does this mean to you?

Well, take the following picture as an example:
The image is outlined by a thin box that represents a wide-screen movie picture in its entirety. The image in the middle with the thick outline is what a person viewing a full-screen image would see.
See how much is cut out of this picture?

Ok, so big deal right? I mean, I'm probably just making a big deal out of nothing. :)
Well, you are right, worse things really have happened. The world isn't coming to an end. To best explain how I feel about it, let me use an analogy:
Imagine a really really juicy hamburger, cooked to perfection. Get your bun (toasted if you like) and put the hamburger on it...... But then you realize that you dont have ketchup, mayo, lettuce, mustard...... nothing. Just a patty and a bun. And as good as the hamburger is, with just a little bit, it could be absolutely amazing.

It feels like you are watching a movie with blinds on the side of your eyes. By the way, have you ever noticed how you are really good at catching things out of the side of your eyes, but dont really catch the ceiling or floor very often?

To explain just a little better I made the following image :) (which I think will help clarify for you visual learners)

Since movies are made in widescreen format, they have to cut things out of the strip. But when there are important things going on each side, they actually have to start switching back and forth between people or things that normally would all be caught at the same time.

Just something to think about next time you go to watch a movie :)

Another educational moment.........
The more you know.

One of the classics from the old school.....

I am a very nostalgic person. :)
Its fun though.
Anyway, I just thought Id ad this really quickly, because I love this game. Gotta love the old schoolness.
You move with the arrow keys, and press spacebar to jump. Your goal is to save the princess without getting hit by Donkey Kong (and its harder than you might think....)
(and I am sorry to say that it is only a partial game... you can only play level one. But its still fun :) )

The Wicked Witch of the East

Look ma, I'm bloggin!

Sorry for that outburst blog world. It just came to me. Let's just get down into it. So if you know who I am you'll know that I am a random person and enjoy to say things that come to mind. This sometimes leaves me in awkward situations. I then need to point out how awkward things have become which leads to more awkwardness. Oooooo nice word. Awkwardness, that's going on my good words list. Yeah, I keep one of those. It's password protected, so don't even bother trying to see it. Anywho.....

Recently I have experienced the cold hand of the BYU cleaning check. Merciless, self-esteem crushing wrath of a twenty-something girl. Now I usually appreciate a good cleaning check here and there. . . . or once a month. It allows me to raise myself from my pigsty and clean the cobwebs I like to call Charlotte. How dare she write words she doesn't understand. Wilbur should be eaten. I might go to Carl's Jr. later and taste victory as ruler over the animal kingdom.

Back on track: My first month living at this particular apartment complex(don't want the cleaning check lady to read this), we were visited with a bit of a surprise. No one was at the apartment except for Chase. He was in the shower. That's an important part of the story. Remember it! He showers regularly. When he came out he met the cleaning check lady, the wicked witch, and found out that we were to have cleaning checks that day. No one knew. I assume the cleaning check sheets were lost on our counter or something like that. So she said she would come the next day for the recheck. We all cleaned and we all passed. So why is she a witch? Good question!!! I'll tell you(keep reading).

Cleaning check #2: We all knew this time around when cleaning checks were happening. We chose our assignments and went to work. I cleaned the back bathroom. This took me about an hour and a half. I wanted to make sure that I did a good job. I even took a toothbrush and cleaned parts that had never been cleaned before(I'll buy you a new toothbrush Levi. Oh this reminded me, don't use your toothbrush Levi!). So I thought I did a pretty good job. Chase also did really good. He cleaned the oven, even put aluminum foil in the stove thingy mcbobbers. Levi did good too. The following day I returned late from work to find out that I failed!! I failed the cleaning check. Not only had I failed, but everyone did except for our roommate that cleaned the kitchen. He didn't even take the garbage out!

The reason I failed was because the tub wasn't "clean." Look at this.

Does this tub look unclean to you?!??! I would eat out of this tub. Heck, I would even bathe in this tub. That's how clean I think it is.

So I had to endure a recheck. Guess what happened? I dunno either. The paper that says that I've passed of failed isn't there. So I tried to contact the cleaning check lady without success. I have become so frustrated with her. It wouldn't bother me as much if she was consistent. I think she is out to get me. I need to flatten her somehow. . .

Why Total Eclipse of the Heart?

Discover Bonnie Tyler!

Ok, so Im responsible for adding the music thing above.
Let me explain the first song (which, at least when Im writing this is Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart).
For all of you who are unfamiliar with this song, you may be wondering why I chose such a "goofy" song.
Boy, you couldnt be farther from the truth (shame on you for thinking that).
Did you know that this song is THE Ultimate karaoke song duet? Give it a listen. Im seroius.
If you want to knock the socks off of the next unsuspecting listeners of your next karaoke escapade, try this song. If you dont get a standing ovation, either your audience is deaf, or you need to practice singing (sorry, someone had to say it.....)
And yes, I know there are amazing songs out there that you can do karaoke to. With all the new games coming out these days that involve people singing (my favorite being Rock Band) people can get opinionated about what a good song is. Im not arguing that the other songs are bad, but I will put my personal quality stamp of approval to "Total Eclipse of the Heart".

And while Im writing about the new addition of the music on the side, I better explain the second song (which when writing this blog is "Send Me an Angel". Yes, I know its an 80's song, and none of you youngsters appreciate the 80's because you had your iphones in elementary school, but let me tell you, you can't say enough about the movies that this decade blessed us with (I wont spend any more time talking about this right now, because I'll probably have to make a whole post about it to do any justice to it). The gem that you see as "send me an angel" was showcased in Rad, a flick about a kid who competes in a bmx competition (a must see movie for you 80's movie lovers). Here is the scene from the movie with this song (curtosy of YouTube):

And so it begins . . .

I am happy to be part of this project to educate and inspire to those of the world. I want to insure the readers of this blog that I, Taylor Gersbach, will try my best to bring a smile to your face, a scoot in your boogie, and even a light to your darkness.

I am most pleased to be doing this with Levi and Chase. I have tried to set up blogs with people before, but no one has stepped up like these two have. I must assure you that we are more than just looks. I mean, we are all very attractive, but we also have some great things to say. What things you may ask. Oh you'll see. Baby, it'll blow your mind!!

I am so freaking excited!

My name is Pete

Well, I might as well get it over with. Why Pete? I mean, seriously, it doesn't sound anything like Levi. Leviticus would probably be a more suitable nickname but I'll take what I can get. Without further anticipation. . .
1) The first reason my nickname is Pete is because when I was a little tyke I repeated everything my sister said: "Pete and Re-Peat" :)
2) Better yet, the other reason why I'm Pete is because I used to pee my bed a lot. Um yeah, that's it.

So, stick around for more tidbits from your friend Pete.

Chao

GOOD NEWS!

Boy do I have a treat for you bloggers (and blog readers) out there!
I am very pleased to announce that Levi Taylor (yes, THE Levi Taylor) has been invited to be a special guest on this blog. OFFICIALLY!!!
So stay tuned for snipets from the brain of our good friend Petey (thats Levi's nickname. Maybe if you're lucky, hell post how he got that nickname.....)

What caused Chase and Taylor to create a Blog?

You may be asking yourself why Chase and Taylor wanted to write a blog. You may not have asked yourself this too... But if you didnt ask yourself that, and you dont care to know, then you may not care to read this post. Cause thats what this post is about (spoiler).

So as it turns out, Taylor and Chase are two people who care about things. Not just anything though. Important things.

If you dont agree that these things are important, then know that you are wrong. They are. And if you're wrong then it is even more important that you read this blog, because knowing is the first step. And this blog is about education.

Sure, you may learn some interesting and fun things along the way. Thats a bonus from us to you (know that we care). Really, its whatever we think important/interesting. Our commitment to you is that we will keep you updated on the important matters of our lives, and that if you open your heart, this blog will enrich your lives.

And that comes with our personal stamp of quality. And let me tell you, in my eyes, thats as good as you can get. (Trust me, Taylor knows quality, and he endorses this).

The start of things....

This is a blog that Chase And Taylor started. And you can bet it will be epic. Enjoy
